Overview and insight into travel in the three largest cities in South Africa.
Patrick F. Albertson is
a designer, writer and multimedia content producer for hire. Yes,
he is good at more than one thing and yes, he is open for business.
In addition to being one year older, hitting the five year anniversary of my freelance career and salmon fishing in the Canada, I’ve also been working a lot since the last update. Outside+ is on a tear, most recently with the Summer Buyer’s Guide and June issue, plus I launched a tablet edition for the University of St. Thomas. More work in the works, as always.
16 February, 2012Just finished the new March 2012 issue of Outside+ for the iPad. Also, check out their recently released anthology, Our Kind of Crazy, co-designed and produced by me with help from their Art & Edit team. It’s also available in the app store.
12 January, 2012Happy New Year. You’re probably wondering what happened. Nothing happened. Everything happened. I’ve been working with some great partners at Mag+ to help bring print media to the iPad since last spring to put out app titles like Outside and Maxim. I’ll have some samples up soon and more photos of places and sandwiches and things.
18 April, 2011A link to the Paper Magazine Borderline piece here and speaking of films, I’m headed to the Borscht Film Festival in Miami this weekend to revel in the Magic City’s cinematic and musical talent.
6 April, 2011Failed to mention this piece for ESPN regarding the two skaters up for Most Metal Athlete at the Revolver Golden God Awards, check it out here. Shred it.
5 April, 2011Two new short pieces in this month’s Paper Magazine. One on the lovely women-riders of Peep Show films (online here) and one on the phenomenal gentlemen of Borderline Films, soon to be added to words.
22 March, 2011Updates TK for, well… everything. Print, iPad interactive, maybe some sounds, photos. Long story short, finally set up in the new home office and have some time to tackle stacks.
19 October, 2010Went to Scotland, went curling, toured the Hendrick’s Gin distillery and then hustled back across the Atlantic for a Boston wedding. Congrats newly minted Ross family. Writing up distillery notes and just finished a screenplay with Teddy Blanks and submitted for Sundance Screenwriters Lab. Also, a lil’ blog post on bad re-branding efforts here.
28 September, 2010Back from the Bourbon Trail in KY, working on iPad Mag+ redesign for PopSci’s app and readying for Scotland trip for some gin next week. Also I moved to Crown Heights and feel like I live in New York again. There are consequences. Lastly, I wrote this.
12 September, 2010I just wrote this for papermag.com. You should read it. It’s awesome, but not as good as Altar was.
26 August, 2010I Curated a semi-historical list of animated .GIFs for Complex. You can read it here, but it’s borderline appropriate for your workplace, Kevin.
25 August, 2010I submitted some new illustration work to Australian INfront in part because I want a new Wacom tablet and in part because I secretly want to move to Melbourne. It’s truly lovely work to be grouped with and my best to all in the field. You can view and/or vote here. The theme is portraits and voting closes August 30th.
6 August, 2010Today is music gettin’ Friday where I fill my back catalogs of Swans and QOTSA and get that delightful new Arcade Fire record. I also finished a list for complex.com that should be internet gold. Link will be up in a couple weeks. Adios August cold, hello weekend.
28 July, 2010Selected new cross-country .GIFs are up in photos. It may take a moment to load, but enjoy.
27 July, 2010Two new posts in words featuring an intro to gin and a little travel blurb on World Cup cities, both for Complex. Currently writing more ever-present 50 Lists for the web and editing some road trip photos to put up this week.
8 July, 2010Having returned from the wide West, I’ll be homesteading in the Brooklyn Swelter for a few weeks, happy to be still. Pictures from various adventures and new writing will be up soon.
1 June, 2010Returned from ME/NH after a healthy dose of green in the White Mountains over Memorial Day. Presently researching Herradura tequila (web not wet) for a visit to the hacienda and distillery next week in Jalisco.
12 May, 2010A new issue of Popular Science hits newsstands and the Words section gets updated with a new blurb from the headlines of America’s favorite science mag. Enjoy the engineering behind the new Cape Town Stadium.
29 April, 2010Back on another exciting issue of Science Illustrated… but first, a minor detour to DC for the weekend to get overheated and look at buildings. And see the best of people.
26 April, 2010Thanks to the genius of Thadd Williams, pfalbertson.com is up and running at long last. Enjoy.
21 April, 2010Finished writing all the installments to the NOLA travel guide on the Complex blog. Check where to eat here.
8 April, 2010Prepping for a weekend in NH and the 3rd Annual Tuckerman Ravine trip. Weather-schmeather.
7 April, 2010Just sent sources to the fact checker for a piece on the new Cape Town Stadium ready for the 2010 World Cup. Look for it in the June issue of Popular Science.
6 April, 2010Put the finishing touches on the Complex Magazine intro to gin & gin cocktails for this summer. Look for it in the JUN/JUL issue.
29 March, 2010Back from South Africa and trying to get this up and running.
